I. Pre-Trip Essentials

1. Extreme Cold Weather

  • Temperature: In winter (December - February next year), the temperature is usually between -15°C and -30°C.
  • Professional cold-proof gear is a must; do not take this lightly.

2. Visa & Documents

  • Ensure your passport is valid for more than 6 months.
  • Apply for and confirm a valid Chinese tourist visa in advance.

II. Cold Weather Gear Recommendations

"Wearing the right clothes is half the battle!" Please follow the "layered dressing method":

  • Base Layer: Close-fitting cotton long-sleeve underwear is a must.
  • Middle Layer: Fleece jacket, sweatshirt, or woolen sweater.
  • Outer Layer: A long down jacket with at least 300g of filling.
  • Trousers: Thermal cotton pants + windproof and waterproof outer pants.
  • Shoes & Socks:
    • Shoes: Thickened high-top, non-slip, waterproof snow boots with thickened thermal lining. Regular sports shoes are completely unsuitable.
    • Socks: Cotton socks.
  • Accessories:
    • Hat: Must cover the ears.
    • Gloves: Waterproof ski gloves with touchscreen compatibility.
    • Scarf/Neck Gaiter: Protects the face and neck from frostbite.
    • Sunglasses/Snow Goggles: Intense sunlight reflection on snow can cause "snow blindness" – these are essential.

III. Other Practical Tips

  • Electronic Devices:
    • Mobile phones, cameras, and other devices lose power quickly in low temperatures. Please carry a power bank and keep devices close to your body for warmth as much as possible.
  • Skincare: The climate in Northeast China is dry; please bring moisturizing skincare cream.
  • Payment Methods: WeChat Pay, Alipay, and Chinese Yuan (CNY).
  • Language:
    • Download a translation app (e.g., Google Translate) and prepare key phrases in advance to facilitate basic communication.
